Rangers fans know all about “premium retailer” Castore and the pricing of some goods – but it appears Newcastle United supporters are only just finding out.
The Ibrox side are Castore’s first venture into the world of football but this season the now Manchester-based retailer have added the Toon Army and Premier League rivals Wolves to their portfolio.

Whilst fresh kit designs and a variety of products have (generally) gone down well at Ibrox, there have been some complaints about the excessive pricing of some products.
Namely, the Garcia hoody which claims to be a fully waterproof hoody which has the same price-point on their own products as it does club products at £165.
Castore claim the Garcia hoody “is a truly one-of-a-kind product in the global sportswear market” and is “made from a unique fabric that is water resistant to deliver the ultimate hybrid training garment”.
Whilst there are plenty of positive reviews of the hoody both at outlet and club level, the high price point gained the attention of Newcastle United fans online.
Rangers supporters are obviously well versed with the retailer and took to the post to give their two cents as the Gers enter their second season with Castore:

Whatever your opinion, which probably sits between ‘if you don’t like it, don’t buy it’ and ‘this is exploiting supporters’, the price point is objectively high for a football club hoody.
Nonetheless, Rangers fans continue to embrace official club products selling a record-breaking 250k kits between May and August this year [Rangers].
Gers fans boycotted retail for what seemed an eternity due to the involvement of Sports Direct and Mike Ashley and now we’re finally seeing that emotional release in kit sales.
But whilst the Gers might always believe they’re the top dogs, Castore courted some controversy when they referred to Newcastle United as their “flagship club”.
