Rangers vice-captain Connor Goldson cut a dejected figure as he faced the camera in the aftermath of the Gers’ crushing Champions League exit to Malmo.
The Ibrox side threw away a 1-0 lead against 10-men to fall to a 2-1 defeat on home turf which saw Rangers lose 4-2 on aggregate.
It is a stinging blow for everyone involved and rounds off a dismal week at Ibrox which has seen Steven Gerrard’s side lose three matches on the bounce.
With fans looking on for some hope, Connor Goldson’s comments are a real worry as he admits that things are not as they should be at Rangers so far this season and he doesn’t know why.
“I don’t think you can blame people for missing chances,” said Goldson [RangersTV].
“We’ve conceded two goals against 10 men, we’ve played 45 minutes against 10 men and lost 2-0 in the second half.
“I don’t think we can blame missing chances, we’re not doing things right at either side of the pitch at the moment.
“I don’t know. We just don’t look the same team as we did last season and that has to change quickly.
“The fans were unbelievable and we’ve let them go home disappointed, we’re disappointed.
“We said before the game that we had a massive chance to make this a memorable night and we failed to capitalise on that.
“It’s our fault, the people who’re on the pitch, it’s no-one else’s. We can’t blame management, we can’t blame tactics.

“It was a game that was in our hands and we through it away so it’s our own fault.”
Whilst said in the aftermath of the bitterly disappointing result, it’s clear that Connor Goldson is at a loss to explain quite how the side threw away such a magnificent opportunity.
The defender’s future also remains up in the air as fans await progress regarding a new contract with plenty feeling this is serving as a distraction to the player.
Goldson has also been subject to much comment from fans who have urged the defender and one of his teammates to either sign up or let the club move on.
