Rangers were praised on Twitter by official club partners Bengaluru FC for the major milestone of the Ibrox sides 150th anniversary as the fallout from the Sydney Super Cup continues.
The Indian Super League side has been partners with Rangers since September 2019 on an initial two-year collaboration which has now been extended and gives the two sides the chance to engage in football and commercial-related activities.
The partnership allows Rangers to set up a scouting link to the ISL which could help identify India’s finest talent.
They posted a picture of club captain James Tavernier alongside a Bengaluru player and a stack of trophies underneath are two female fans are holding aloft a football scarf and expressing delight in praising Rangers.
Rangers partners Bengaluru praise the side on landmark achievement as ongoing Sydney Cup gripes continue
The main talking point over the last few weeks has been about the recent announcement of the Sydney Cup, which will see Rangers play Celtic in Australia during a friendly tournament in November.
It had the vast majority of fans seething and rightly so. There is a simpler option available (which many supporters have pointed out already) that involves the Gers and our other three partner clubs.
Instead of traveling down under to earn a quick buck, the club should hold a four-team tournament alongside Hamburg, Bengaluru, and Orange County Soccer Club, our other club partners, in Glasgow.
There would be no friction, the club would still make money and it could benefit the other three clubs, especially ones who would be more than grateful for the opportunity.
There do appear to be some doubts about the Sydney Cup, however, as it emerged that it may be in serious doubt with “unresolved issues” with the organiser being the main cause.

Only time will tell to see if the Sydney Super Cup actually goes ahead with Rangers involved, but I fear that the damage has already been done.
