As Rangers nerves jangled at Dens Park, Connor Goldson’s late winner was met with major relief amid a series of distracting Celtic/Australia Old Firm protests.

As the season bottlenecks Rangers miraculously find themselves three points behind Celtic despite boasting a ginormous opportunity at the beginning of the season to be out of sight.

If the club cannot haul themselves back to the top of the Scottish Premiership this will go down as a monumental failure from the playing squad, through the management, right to the Boardroom.

But whilst stuttering performances like the one against Dundee will do little to inspire confidence that the side can do so – having chucked away a six-point lead since January and having struggled to capitalise on the rare occasions Celtic have slipped up – this campaign is anything but over.

With seven league games left, 21 points to play for and two Old Firm matches to come, Rangers know that if they win their remaining games, then they will be crowned Champions.

This begins with Celtic’s trip to Ibrox in a fortnight’s time.

Rangers can steal Old Firm title momentum with Celtic victory

Rangers fans know that their league campaign could depend on victory in this match and if the club can win it – by hook or by crook – then momentum swings towards Ibrox.

That’s something that hasn’t been the case since the turn of the year and it is an important word in any title race as the club looks to retain their Premiership trophy.

Make no bones about it; this may well be the defining match of our Premiership season and anything but a victory keeps momentum very much with the Parkhead side.

But by landing an Old Firm blow, hauling back the points and applying the pressure on Celtic, then you’d be a brave man to bet against Rangers retaining the title if the club can lay down a marker on April 3rd.

Here are three key talking points that emerged from Rangers’ late win over Dundee.
