One of the regular debates over the last couple of seasons is who is Rangers best left back; Borna Barisic or Ridvan Yilmaz, what if the correct answer is Dujon Sterling?
It was a questionable signing in the summer, a right-back who can play left-back and also on the right of a back three, it didn’t seem like we really needed him.
Other than a few fleeting glimpses, we’ve rarely seen a Rangers team with Dujon Sterling in it, however, his cameo against Hearts might have the manager thinking.

Rangers could have left-back solution in Dujon Sterling
Looking at the three individually, none of them are perfect.
Borna Barisic is one of the most experienced players in the squad but is starting to show signs of wear and tear and can be guilty of being one dimensional and too safe with his play.
Ridvan Yilmaz is the opposite, if anything, he needs to calm down a little bit.
The Turkey international makes mistakes but he at least makes them trying to be adventurous.
Then there is Rangers summer signing Dujon Sterling.
He is easily the most athletic of the three and is the best in the air, he also prides himself on his defending and ability in 1v1 situations.
But what we saw against Hearts was a hint that he could be more than just an option when defending a lead.
Two times he got in behind their defence through his own efforts and I as much as anyone was surprised that he had that in his locker.
It was only a small sample size but he has shown that he is capable of contributing to the attack and with doubts over the Ibrox futures of Ridvan and Barisic for different reasons, Rangers solution could be staring them in the face with Dujon Sterling.
The squad needs a bit of work but the Gers boss said that he is going to have a look at everyone before making his decision, maybe one of those decisions will be that he doesn’t need a left-back after all.
