Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos scored again as the club saw off Dundee and looks like a man reborn since Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over the club in November.
The Colombian had looked a shadow of his former self last season, Steven Gerrard was often ordering him to play with his back to goal, resulting in his goal tally dropping significantly.
The 25-year-old seems rejuvenated under the Dutchman. The new manager made a slight tactical change in his first match against Sparta Prague which saw Morelos playing alone upfront with support from a creative number 10, and it worked wonders. He scored twice and has kicked on since.
Rangers defeated Dundee 3-0 at Ibrox in van Bronckhorst’s first league match at Ibrox and Morelos was in fine form.
Not only did he score the third goal for the Ibrox side, but he also had a total of eight shots, in which three were blocked [SofaScore], and he looked a livewire throughout the 90 minutes.
Even though the striker spent most of his time in the opposition box, he made a total of four key passes during the match and he completed 36 out of his 45 passes [SofaScore], which proves his all-round game is still there, but when he has a licence to stay forward, goals are inevitable.
One of van Bronckhorst’s main challenges, when he arrived at the club, was to make Morelos shine again. He has done a fabulous job so far.
The Colombian being at his best is vital if Rangers stand any chance of retaining the Scottish Premiership title.
After four matches in charge, the Dutchman is working wonders with the current squad, long may it continue.
