Rangers winger Ryan Kent hasn’t quite been up to his usual high standards as of late, but stats from his performance against Hearts on Sunday in the 5-0 thrashing have emerged and they are impressive.
Kent has shown that he can turn up in the big matches and put in a performance that justifies his transfer fee, take for example the Old Firm victory at Celtic Park in December 2019. Although, this doesn’t always necessarily lead to regular great outings.
The Englishman was particularly poor against Celtic in the second Old Firm match of the season and couldn’t exert his influence as the side was simply outplayed and outgunned.

This changed on Sunday, as Kent was one of the Gers’ standout performers in what was a must-win tie.
The 25-year-old provided two assists, created three big chances, whilst missing one, and made four key passes during the match [SofaScore].
This shows that when he is in the mood, he can be a real menace to the opposition backline and regularly terrorised the Hearts defenders on what was a tough afternoon for them.
The impressive stats don’t end there, the winger completed 87% of his passes and completed 10 out of 14 duels in his 85 minutes on the pitch [SofaScore].
If Kent could produce these stats on a more consistent basis, the press would label him one of the best in Scotland, and as the title race heats up, Rangers are going to need performances like these on a regular occurence.
There is no doubt the player has the ability to change matches, it’s just a pity these performances are so few and far between. Let’s hope this game will prove to be a catalyst for him going forward.
