Rangers fans were left disconsolate after a second half collapse v Liverpool had the Ibrox club floundering in a record-breaking 7-1 Champions League defeat.
Both the club’s worst-ever European result and the worst defeat ever recorded at Ibrox, Liverpool prowled into life in an emphatic second half that left a timid Rangers shellshocked.
And its in that timidness where the frustration of the Rangers support lies as once again a team who’ve let us down plenty before buckle under the pressure.
There is barely any player in this team who can pull the club up by the bootstraps when the pressure is on and far from respond to challenging the situations these players have repeatedly collapsed.
Repeated Rangers collapse has fan confidence waning
Those two trips to Celtic Park, the Ajax game, the Napoli humbling and the Liverpool hammering stand as repeated examples of a team who lack belief and courage in their abilities against sides who have a suggestion of quality.
Worryingly, there have also been plenty of examples of the team giving too much respect to Scottish Premiership fodder and buckling under the pressure at away grounds up and down the country.
This isn’t new – think back to those infamous James Tavernier programme notes, the annual post-winter break collapse, the woeful cup record of the last four seasons.
This Rangers squad – which has not been properly freshened up across two management teams and four seasons – continues to let supporters down and throw in the proverbial towel when the pressure mounts.
The Ibrox support are running out of confidence that this can change, with the Ibrox players failing to give them anything to suggest they have broad enough shoulders for the Rangers jersey.

Too many of these first-teamers have been handed the opportunity at Rangers and let the fans down, not with a lack of talent, but a lack of courage, bravery, bite and balls.
There was no real expectation to beat Liverpool, but the bare minimum expectation was that we retain some respect.
As Harvey Elliot completed the 7-1 rout, this has all but vanished, along with the belief of many supporters that this Rangers team could have the cojones to compete on their behalf.
Meanwhile, the worst could yet be to come from the devastating Rangers defeat to Liverpool.
