Danny Rohl is expected to drop Dujon Sterling from his Rangers starting eleven against Livingston.

After beating Hearts 4-2 at Ibrox, the Gers will take on Livingston next at Alderstone Road.

Rohl’s side go into this game as overwhelming favourites as the Lions are rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table and are expected to get relegated.

Dujon Sterling’s poor Hearts display calls for axe

Sterling was handed a start against Hearts on Sunday as Rohl wanted defensive solidity at full-back.

James Tavernier, while being great going forward and also being their regular penalty taker, is not the best option in terms of defence.

Hearts could have looked to have exploited the Gers’ right side had the captain started, so it was a pragmatic decision to keep him on the bench.

However, it was not the best outing for Sterling either.

The 26-year-old failed to win a single tackle during the time he was on the pitch, and he lost the majority of his attempted ground duels as well. [Sofascore]

Going forward, too, he was ineffective, completing just one out of his four attempted crosses.

James Tavernier ideal to start for Rangers vs Livingston

Unlike Hearts, Livingston will not be taking the game to Rangers, so having an attack-minded right-back would actually be beneficial.

Andreas Skov Olsen liked to occupy the right half space, and he would thrive if someone like Tavernier overlaps him.

He will also be there to take corners and will be ready to step up from the spot if the Light Blues are handed a penalty.

Rohl will hope that by the 65th minute, the game is in the bag, and he can then take off the 34-year-old and bring on Sterling.

It makes sense to set up the team in a more attacking manner and they could even look to ramp up the goal difference.

Currently, they are level with Hearts at 26, and it could prove to be a deciding factor, so winning by three or four goals is ideally what Rohl would want.
