Danny Rohl expected to axe Rangers first-team player vs Motherwell after major development

Danny Rohl is expected to make changes to the Rangers side that thrashed Queen’s Park 8-0 when they take on Motherwell.

While it was an impressive performance at Ibrox, Rohl will be aware that Motherwell pose a different and far bigger threat than the second-tier side.

With the top spot within reach, Rangers know that every game from now until the end of the season is in must-win territory.

Danny Rohl likely to drop Nasser Djiga after his injury update for the Motherwell game

Nasser Djiga played the full 90 minutes as the Light Blues made easy work of Queen’s Park over the weekend.

He partnered with Dujon Sterling in the heart of the Gers defence, and the duo did a relatively good job.

However, Djiga is not likely to retain his spot in the playing eleven for the game at Fir Park on Wednesday night.

Rohl confirmed that Emmanuel Fernandez is available for the Motherwell clash, and it could be the perfect game for him to start in.

He also revealed that Youssef Chermiti was back from injury, but given how good the strikers have been in his absence, the former Everton forward is arguably the third choice and is unlikely to be thrown in the starting eleven.

Can Emmanuel Fernandez play the full 90 minutes for Rangers?

Fernandez was named as the Gers’ Player of the Month in January, so it is evident how important he is to the team.

Rohl would undoubtedly have been upset to lose the 24-year-old ahead of the Kilmarnock game.

The German stated that the centre-back had some issues with his knee, which saw him being ruled out of two games.

However, as it was a minor injury and a small lay-off, the towering English defender should have no problem playing the full 90 minutes in the SPFL later this week.

While Fernandez has been exceptional in defence, his 6ft 4in frame has led to him being a threat from set pieces.

He has scored four league goals this season, and given how well he’s playing, it is hard to bet against him having another solid outing against Motherwell.
