Sky Sports letting Rangers fans down with morose broadcasting duo

As Rangers fans watched their stuttering side’s late rally against Aberdeen, the backdrop of Ian Crocker and Andy Walker made for familiar groans amongst the Ibrox faithful.

Those who’d made the trip to Pittodrie to watch Scott Arfield score twice in injury time were not only treated to a potentially season-defining victory, but they weren’t subjected to yet more droning nonsense from Sky Sports’ disastrous duo.

Putting Ian Crocker and Andy Walker on Rangers commentary duties, particularly when multiplied against each other, is akin to bolting a set of headphones to someone’s ears and forcing them to listen to 90 straight minutes of someone shattering glass.

It is as incendiary as it is unproductive and surely at this point the broadcaster must be considering another direction. Season after season paying customers are being subjected to this.

Rangers fans let down by Sky Sports Andy Walker Ian Crocker double act

Andy Walker was gutted by Rangers boss Michael Beale in the run up to the game for nonsense comments about disrespecting Celtic.

The same Andy Walker who at no point has gutted Celtic for being unable to mention Rangers in official communications. Respect is a one way street, apparently.

Ian Crocker has a case to make for being unbiased – reserve your own judgment on that – but when paired with Andy Walker his coverage becomes droning analysis of nonsense calls and negative, unenthusiastic commentary surrounding Rangers.

The reaction to every single Rangers goal was palpably mooted too; Fashion Sakala’s opener “made a change” for a despondent Crocker who’d seemingly banked on an Aberdeen upset.

Listen to them frothing at both Aberdeen goals here too:

And then – as if some kind of poetic justice for a Rangers support who not only had to watch their flailing side seemingly doomed to dropping points but also had to listen to these two – the turnaround tears served as a delectable tonic to a second half of excited blubbering over the Dons.

Listen below:

That’s before you mention trying to court controversy in every single Rangers goal with VAR groans and then the two openly ignoring the only clear penalty in the match; Ross McCrorie’s handball which for some reason wasn’t given.

In the parlance of the average Glaswegian; it felt good to get it up them.

Surely Sky Sports don’t think that what they’re offering in way of analysis is of any real standard with these two in charge. Actual insight is replaced with refereeing bothering, Rangers baiting bull excrement.

By persisting with Andy Walker and Ian Crocker on their coverage of Rangers matches Sky Sports are letting Ibrox fans down and if they keep it up, it won’t be long before everyone is taking a virtual holiday every time Rangers play.

That’s if they aren’t already.
