Wigan Athletic fans have raved about former Rangers winger Jordan Jones for his action-packed performance against Wycombe Wanderers.

Jones joined the Latics earlier this month on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, after being deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox.

The Northern Ireland international knows EFL League One well having spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland and after being left on the bench at the weekend, he was handed a start against Wycombe on Tuesday night.

In his first outing at the DW Stadium, he impressed the home fans with his desire to take on defenders and make things happen.

Jones played a role in the host’s goal just after the interval, as it was his set-piece delivery that was headed to the feet of former Motherwell forward Callum Lang, who then fired home a finish.

The 26-year-old came close to scoring himself in both halves and assisted Charlie Wyke for a goal that was chalked off for offside.

He was subbed off in the 70th minute and Wycombe would go on to equalise in injury time.

However, Jones was still lauded on social media for his performance.

Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:

Jones may have moved on to pastures new but a 55-winning duo are still in limbo despite leaving Ibrox back in June.
