As the Scottish domestic league season is threatened with cancellation due to the coronavirus, it’s opened all sorts of conversation over league titles, relegations and promotions
But with rivals Celtic adamant they should be awarded the trophy if the league is cancelled, and Dundee United sitting top of the Scottish Championship, spare Rangers fans any of the nonsense.
These are two clubs who – let’s be honest here – would absolutely and completely refute awarding Rangers the title should the Ibrox club have been the ones sitting atop the Scottish Premiership.

In fact, it is difficult to imagine a scenario where Celtic wouldn’t have already released a statement on the subject should the roles be reversed. It is what they do.
It’s no wonder Rangers fans have been laughing off desperate claims from the Celtic boss Neil Lennon [PLZ Soccer] that his side should be awarded the trophy.
Celtic’s brass neck is getting redder by the day as the reality of a title charge capitulating under the weight of a global pandemic becomes clearer and clearer.
Dundee United too fell under the Lawwell “sporting integrity” line of 2008, determined to deny Rangers the opportunity to extend the domestic season to supplement their UEFA Cup run.
Why, you ask? You’ll need to ask former chairman Stephen Thompson.
The Arabs were also vocal opposition to Rangers being admitted back into the top league in 2012 and there remains a strong feeling of discontent about it.
New owners or not, this is a football club and set of supporters which endeavoured to ensure Rangers would cease to exist and who were determined to dance on our grave.
They’ll get no sympathy or support from Rangers fans and it is utterly ludicrous to expect any supporter to give them it.
It would be easier to feel sympathy for weeping stories about Dundee United’s wage bill being dependent on what appeared an inevitable promotion if they had any for us in 2012.

Any Rangers fan wondering what position to take concerning the situations of Celtic or Dundee United need only ask themselves one question.
Would they back Rangers up if the roles were reversed?
Exactly.
