The prospective exit of popular Rangers winger Daniel Candeias [Radio Clyde] might have the fans at Ibrox feeling a bit glum, but what about best mate Alfredo Morelos?
The Colombian forward doesn’t speak English and fluent Spanish speaker Daniel Candeias is well-known to be his closest friend at the club.
Should the Portuguese wide man move on, it opens a new dilemma for Rangers. With so much transfer talk surrounding Morelos, would the striker want to stay if he couldn’t communicate?
Football Insider – who seem to have a contact in every football club across the UK if they’re to be believed – claim Morelos is “shattered” by the news.
Whilst that report might be exceptionally dubious, there is no doubt Candeias’ potential departure will be felt by the 23-year-old striker.
A unique character, Morelos could well feel isolated if he doesn’t have someone to help him communicate with his teammates.
On the other side of it, it might not be anywhere near as big a deal to the Colombian as the likes of Football Insider has suggested.
It will, however, be an interesting dynamic shift at Rangers and you simply cannot write-off Candeias’ potential exit having a ripple effect on Morelos.
The two genuinely appeared to be close and share camaraderie, despite the eight-year age gap.
That said, Candeias and Morelos aren’t the only people are the club who can speak Spanish.
Matt Polster, albeit coming from a different culture being an American, is fluent in the language.
What will a potential Candeias departure mean for Alfredo Morelos? We’ll just have to wait and see.
But the entire thing really depends on whether Candeias actually leaves or not.
