Reports this morning have suggested that West Brom are ready to move for Rangers captain James Tavernier. The Daily Record reported that West Brom sent a scout to Hampden on Sunday.

Rangers have already knocked back two approaches from West Brom and one from Brighton in August, with Tavernier signing a new contract earlier in the year.

If West Brom are serious, then is it unreasonable to expect them to stump up £7m+ for the flying wingback?

“Every player has a price”

Steven Gerrard has already said that every player has his price. So what is James Tavernier’s? It’s difficult to say exactly but the Gaffer also said Rangers would no longer entertain cut price offers on their players.

Tavernier is a not only a vital part of our game, but he’s also our captain.

For a wingback, his stats since he’s been at Ibrox are pretty incredible. He provides goals and assists and is currently the second top scorer in the league with five. Albeit most of them have come from the penalty spot.

Tav is one of our longest serving players and is now in his fourth season at the club. He’s made over 150 appearances for Rangers. He’s a fixture in this team.

How much would it cost to replace his influence? He’s entering his peak at 27, he’s athletic and he is arguably our second most talented player after Alfredo Morelos. Being English he also fulfils homegrown player registration requirements down south.

There’s little doubt he’s the best right wing back in the league. More than that, teammate Connor Goldson described him as a Premier League wingback.

Rangers should be demanding Premier League prices.

Would you take £7-8m for his services?
