Were Rangers ever really interested in Graeme Shinnie?

The Rangers transfer interest in Graeme Shinnie appears to have dried up.
Which begs the questions, were Rangers ever actually interested in the Aberdeen captain at all?
The Dons talisman’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Bristol Live linked Shinnie to Ibrox earlier in the month.

Naturally this drew much debate on the midfielder signing for Rangers. Would Rangers dare plunder the Dons for a second captain on the bounce? The Aberdeen fans still haven’t forgiven Ryan Jack for joining up with the Gers.

Some Bears feel Shinnie isn’t good enough for Rangers. Others felt the Scotland international would be a sound addition. A few just want to get one over on Aberdeen.
But after The Scottish Sun suggested Shinnie was bound for Wigan, any move to Ibrox seemed off the cards.
That was until Dons Manager Derek McInnes came out fighting claiming the story was a load of nonsense.
That could’ve potentially reopened the door for Rangers.

But any talk of Shinnie to Rangers have dried up ever since. Probably to the betterment of McInnes’ physical and mental wellbeing. He is determined to keep his skipper at Pittodrie.
No matter what you say about Graeme Shinnie, he is an option in the transfer market for Rangers. A pre-contract move is not out-with the realms of possibility, but any talk of a deal appears to have dried up.
That’s if we were ever interested in him at all.
