Despite the domestic season being over, there is still a lot for Rangers fans to keep their eye on over the coming weeks and months.
The agreed takeover bid from the San Francisco 49ers is one, but there is also the small matter of the hunt for a new Rangers manager.
There has been a shortage of names mentioned with Patrick Stewart said to be appointing a sporting director first.
A clear plan can still be drawn up by Stewart and Nils Koppen in terms of the type of manager that is needed but one name has been met with mixed emotions.
Steven Gerrard was a hero in 2021, but a lot has changed since then.

Taking to X in response to transfer journalist Graeme Bailey’s claim that the 49ers Enterprises are considering Gerrard, who is keen on a return to Ibrox:
“Would be for this if they assemble a very clued-up coaching staff. If they’re relying on him to implement the system then we are doomed,” put one fan who has a valid point about Gerrard’s recent success since leaving Rangers.
This fan had a similar thought process, looking at the coaching team around Gerrard:
“I’m relatively meh on Gerrard coming back but if it did happen, I’d probably then get excited Charai stating as assistant and getting (Kevin) Thomson, (Barry) Ferguson, (Neill) McCann etc. more involved with the youth could be good.
“Gerrard brought a professional feeling outfit with him at least.”
“Time to move forward not back, fresh appointment with fresh ideas, let’s stop trying to recreate 55. Let’s move forward,” a consensus that is a common theme amongst Rangers fans looking for a more dynamic and consistent style of play.
Would Gerrard return be well received?
“I’d happily have Gerrard back,” “Wow,” “We are so back,” light in detail or rationale, however, there was also a collection of nostalgic fans pining for the return of Rangers last title winning manager.
With a genuine 50/50 split, Gerrard probably would be well received if he returned to Ibrox again, however, there is a feeling that he wouldn’t get quite as much grace as he did last time.
