Watford have provided a positive injury update on Dapo Mebude after the former Rangers attacker was stretchered off in a friendly against Stevenage [Watfordfc.com].
Mebude spent several years with Rangers after attending the Gers’ youth partnership school Boclair Academy and made his first-team debut in May 2019.

He wasn’t able to kick on at senior level, though, and was released in June following a loan spell at Queen of the South.
However, Watford see plenty of potential in the 19-year-old, snapping him up earlier this month on an initial two-year deal, and he’s been impressing in pre-season.
He was introduced for the second half of their fixture against Stevenage on Tuesday but his night ended in horrible fashion as he required lengthy on-field treatment for a back injury.

The referee opted to end the match early and the former Ger was eventually stretchered off the pitch and into an ambulance to be taken to hospital, with both clubs issuing ‘get well soon’ messages on social media.
Watford published an update on his condition on Wednesday morning and thankfully, it was positive news.
“Watford FC confirms Dapo Mebude was taken to hospital after last night’s match at Stevenage, after being stretchered off with a back injury,” reads the club statement [Watfordfc.com].
“The scans were all clear and he has been released to return home. He will now be assessed by the club’s medical team.
“We wish Dapo a speedy recovery!”
Later on Wednesday, Mebude himself tweeted a thank you message to both clubs and the medical staff for their support and care.
It’s rotten luck for Mebude to pick up an injury so soon after joining a new club, but this is excellent news as there was plenty of concern amongst Watford fans after the incident.
With long-term damage now apparently ruled out, the teenager is clearly hopeful of getting back to playing sooner rather than later, with Premier League minutes the potential reward if he can impress manager Xisco.
In a possible injury boost for Rangers, a key player has reportedly returned to training ahead of Saturday’s Premiership opener.
