Another high-profile Rangers match, another world-class save by Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
Against Hearts, with the ball headed down into the turf, McGregor sprang to life with all the enthusiasm of someone 20 years his junior.
It is a moment which has undoubtedly gone under the radar this week. Probably because the 36-year-old seems to do it every week.
In the stand, I was astounded at this. It’s a sublime save. He gets under the ball and gets real power behind hooking it away.
Rangers won the game comfortably and at this point were already 2-0 up. That goal might’ve changed the game – but such was the momentum – you couldn’t see Hearts creeping back into it.
But goals change games and McGregor shut Hearts out with a save of the highest quality. It gets better with every watch.
It’s nothing new from McGregor. Even against Celtic last week, the keeper pulled off a sublime save from a rocketing Kieran Tierney shot.
The Rangers keeper rejoined the club in the summer but has been doing this for Rangers almost his entire career.
From the Samaras penalty save to “that” Diego wonder stop, pulling off a world-class save is standard practice for McGregor.
Scotland is made considerably weaker by his decision. But the country’s loss is Rangers gain. Despite closing in on 40 the big man proves his credentials as a stopper time and again.
And he’s still got some gas left in the tank yet.
