Rangers fans have another whole week to wait until they see their team play, some might say that this isn’t entirely a bad thing though.

There is another way to get your fix of action with the Under-16s still in action in Qatar at the prestigious Alkass International Cup.

A positive start on matchdays one and two saw the Rangers academy team unbeaten and in with a chance of progressing to the semi-finals and, after drawing with Mohamed VI Academy, this is exactly what they have done.

Kyle Glasgow shines again for Rangers Under-16s

As with the other two games so far, there was one stand-out player.

Even in a horrible first half – there is no word too strong for how poor it was – Kyle Glasgow looked like the only Rangers player capable of making a difference.

And make a difference he did.

Rangers were lucky to be just 1-0 down at the break and could easily have conceded two penalties too.

Considering that their opponents had lost their first two games, this is not how the script was supposed to go.

Then, up stepped Glasgow with a stunning solo effort from 25-yards out that dipped and swerved to leave the keeper stranded.

Rangers academy star reveals half-time rollicking

Glasgow was interviewed after scoring the goal that secured Rangers’ progress with the diminutive playmaker revealing what was said after a poor opening period:

“I seen my teammate cut inside the pitch and from there I’ve only got one thought in my mind.

“I got my head up and looked for an opportunity to shoot on goal and that’s what I did and luckily it paid off.

“Coming into the game, obviously, Mohamed had two losses so we knew they’d be wanting to come out of the tournament with a result, so they’d chuck everything at it.

“I think going into a game, a few of my teammates maybe underestimated them a bit and we weren’t ready for this challenge but as the game progressed, we saw how great an academy Mohamed were and we got a bit of a kick in the butt from the coaches at half-time and that got us going.

“It was good to get the draw and through to the next round.”

Rangers will need more of the same from Glasgow in the next round if they are to progress.

Up next, the small matter of Paris Saint Germain.
