It was announced today that Rangers would host Alfredo Morelos’ former club, HJK Helsinki, for a mid-season friendly in January.

The powerful striker had returned from suspension last night and emptied the tank against Hibernian.

Unfortunately, though, despite the Colombian mustering four shots on target, he was unable to best ‘keeper, Adam Bogdan.

More often than not, however, he has delivered the goods this season. At one stage, he went on a record-equalling run of scoring in seven consecutive league matches.

Today, his outstanding individual display in the League Cup, back in August, was recognised. His hat-trick single-handedly swept aside Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Due to Morelos’ matching squad number, the performance was selected as the 20th entry on the SPFL’s advent calendar.

What a performance it was too. Header, right foot, left foot. A perfect hat-trick.

The second was particularly impressive. Shrugging off his marker on the edge of penalty area, he turns, before firing low and hard under Killie ‘keeper Daniel Bachmann.

With the Gers scoring just four goals in their last seven outings, the fans will certainly hope Morelos can replicate this performance at St Johnstone this Sunday.

Rangers need their main man back to his best, for the three remaining games before the break.
