It wasn’t pretty, but we got that Hamilton win we needed. That’s really all that matters.
It looked a must win after yesterday’s results. Not to mention the fact we had yet to win away from home in the league before today.
At times, we were extremely flat, and but for a deft Ryan Kent finish, we’d have struggled to get going in this one.
Hamilton were physical and competed. We looked the forlorn side away from home we have been at times. And while we’ve put an end to woeful away from with this victory, we must improve our performances on the road.

We look a little soulless and rudderless on the road. Out of ideas, lacking invention. Devoid of any real leadership. It was loose, slack, frustrating at times. It doesn’t help that 3 out of our 6 away days in Scotland this season have featured plastic pitches.
We’ve struggled to find rhythm.
Something missing from away performances
We seem slower and less fluent away from home. Players got frustrated. We were slack. We most certainly never created enough. It was a bit of a slugging match truth be told.
But we edged it out. We responded to going behind and the players lifted the intensity.
Hamilton competed well but far from peg Rangers back, Steven Boyd’s worldy with ten minutes ago sprung Rangers into action. This Hamilton win was a must and the players responded.
Ryan Kent had given Rangers the lead with a creative and emphatic finish five minutes from the interval. It was superb play too from Morelos to slip him in. Both are among some of the first names on the teamsheet.

But after Boyd’s goal a penalty was given for a silly handball from Alex Penny. It was a stonewaller. The big man would give away another three minutes later. This one for a foul on Morelos which was a little less stonewall. Not that James Tavernier flinched. He resoundingly dispatched both.
Rangers fans owe big Alex Penny a pint.
He got us out of a jail. We were forcing the issue but another two points dropped here would’ve put serious distance between us and the rest. It also helped to get a serious monkey off of our back. It was stupid from the defender, not that Rangers complained.
Morelos rounded off the scoring with a composed finish which he clearly really enjoyed. He had a flashpoint with Darian McKinnon earlier in the game which he seems to have got the better of. He didn’t flinch at the chance and made it look very easy.
More than just be a valuable three points, this Hamilton win was an important away result. We’ve got a monkey off our back and finally won on the road.
With this game wrapped up, now the attention can shift to a huge one on Thursday.
