Fan culture is as prominent as fan media nowadays with the Union Bears and Broomloan Collective front and centre of the Rangers support.
The backbone of a raucous Ibrox is also a key element of the backing given to manager Philippe Clement and his squad when away from our spiritual home.
At Fir Park, the Union Bears were at it again, although their display wasn’t quite what they intended as Rangers overcame Motherwell 2-0.
Union Bears leading the way for Rangers fanbase
A raft of streamers were released as the players came out the tunnel with a banner that suggested the home side were not in the festive spirit for any fan displays by the Rangers support.
The banners read:
“Tifo denied, no time to tidy up.
“Tidy this up!
“Embrace fan culture.”
Speaking to Rangers TV after the game, Philippe Clement was clearly delighted with the efforts, not only of the players, but also of the Union Bears and the traveling support as a whole:
“It was a very good performance, not only from the players but also from the fans. It’s a difficult situation with the weather and on this day, showing up with so many fans, so it was brilliant to hear them sing all game.
“It also gives a lot of energy to the players, so I hope the next two weeks that we continue with that and create a really good story.”
Clement has spoken about improving the synergy between the fans and the players.
Results obviously help but there is an intent, a purpose, about the side since the Belgian took over and this makes it easier to get behind them – the effort to win every game is clearly there.
The Union Bears will play a key role in helping to keep the current momentum going at Rangers, after all, the boss has said that everyone is part of the team. He has embraced the fans, it’s a shame that other clubs still need a bit of encouragement
