Unai Emery has set a new Premier League record as his Aston Villa side net in his first 20 league matches since following the sacking of Steven Gerrard.
The Villains are a side reborn under the former Sevilla manager and are now up to 5th in the Premier League table following the 1-0 victory over Fulham.

But the match was more than just a boost to the club’s European dream as Aston Villa set a new Premier League record under Unai Emery.
Never before has a new manager in the English top flight managed to get his team to score in his first 20 matches but that’s exactly what Unai Emery has done at Aston Villa.

Unai Emery trumps ex-Rangers boss at Aston Villa
It’s solid recognition of the job the Spaniard has done in Birmingham with the Villains a side reborn ever since Steven Gerrard was given his marching orders back in October last year.
This was almost exactly one year on from when the Liverpool legend controversially walked out on Rangers mid-season and during the international break.
Rangers were left rocked when Steven Gerrard walked out on the club and to this day some fans remain salty about the move to Aston Villa.
Under manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Rangers lost their Premiership bite and despite reaching the Europa League Final, wound up surrendering their domestic dominance to Celtic.
Whilst Steven Gerrard initially saw an impressive overhaul of the playing squad at Aston Villa, he could not get them singing the tune being joyfully belted out under Unai Emery at the moment.
Now out of work, albeit having been offered opportunities, the former Rangers boss will be back in the managerial ring before long but for now Aston Villa were perfectly justified in letting him go.
Emery has took charge of 22 Aston Villa matches this season, winning 13, drawing three and losing six.
