Umar Sadiq has kind of blended into the background at Ibrox. He arrived at Ibrox on the same day as Lassana Coulibaly, but the Nigerian hasn’t had quite the impact of the Malian.
It was only a few weeks ago that Gerrard said Sadiq had to improve on “everything”. In a pre-match press conference yesterday, Gerrard said Sadiq had answered that call. He said the striker had “given him something to think about”.
Speaking to the press before the Hamilton match, also said that Sadiq’s “application has improved, his quality has improved”.

With a huge match against Aberdeen on the horizon, will he give a chance to the Nigerian against Hamilton tomorrow?
Breaking him in tomorrow gives him the chance to get some minutes on the board.
Throwing Sadiq into the deep end in the Betfred cup semi might make or break him.
Rangers taking Hamilton seriously
After today’s results, Rangers must take tomorrow’s match seriously. That’s why I think the on-fire Alfredo Morelos will get the nod. I also fancy the Colombian to at least notch tomorrow.
But should the match slip out of Hamilton’s grip, I expect we’ll see big Umar Sadiq. Especially in the absence of Kyle Lafferty. The striker, nicknamed The Flute, arrived with a solid reputation on loan from AS Roma.

They even shelled out a couple of million for the lanky 21 year old in 2015. There’s obviously a player in there.
Whether it’s against Hamilton, Aberdeen or anyone else, if Rangers can get Sadiq firing it can only be good for Rangers.
Alongside Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty, it would give us serious options up front.
