During a piece for the Sky Sports website, Martin Tyler has had his say on Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos.
El Buffalo is the talk of Scottish football at the minute.
Then again, though, when is he not? The Colombian is box office.
Whether it’s goals or controversy, there’s rarely a dull moment when the 22-year-old is on the pitch.
His sending off at Pittodrie last week, has earned him a three-match ban.
One of those, a cup tie against Kilmarnock, has already been served, but still to come are SPL fixtures against St Johnstone and Hamilton.
It’s not as if this was an isolated incident, though.
Remarkably, it was Morelos’ third red card of the season against Aberdeen. The first dismissal was later overturned, though.
This prompted a fan to put a question to legendary commentator, Tyler, as to how many times such a set of circumstances had ever arisen before.
‘Sadly, our friends at Opta cannot give a definitive answer on this one. However, what we can tell you is that it’s not the first time such an extraordinary scenario has happened before’, said Tyler via the Sky Sports website.
‘Tough tackling York midfielder Nigel Pepper was also sent off three times against Darlington in the 1990-91 season, twice in the league, playing in the old Third Division, and once in the FA Cup.’
That Morelos isn’t alone in his disciplinary failings, won’t be much solace for Steven Gerrard.
He has to do without his star man on Saturday, which has a major impact on team selection.
