While Robby McCrorie secured a Man of the Match award in defeat for Queen of the South, two other Rangers loanees got off to winning starts with their new clubs on Saturday.
Just a few days ago, Cammy Palmer and Stephen Kelly secured moves to Partick Thistle and Ayr United, respectively.

Despite only having a handful of training sessions under their belts, the two 19-year-olds were both deemed ready to make debuts in their new club’s League Cup openers.

Cammy Palmer

Last season, Palmer captained the Rangers Reserves team to the league title. On the back of that achievement, it’s been decided that he’s ready for a taste of senior football elsewhere.
He missed out on the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon. However, he came on as a half-time substitute for the Jags at home to Airdriedonians.
It was in that second period that they secured the win, too. Palmer saw an effort saved just ten minutes after entering the fray and Thistle’s pressure eventually told. Sean Crighton put through his own net after 66 minutes, ensuring Palmer’s new side started their Group F campaign with a victory.

Stephen Kelly

Ayr United snapped up Kelly after he netted a hat-trick against them in a friendly last week.
He was part of a Rangers XI which handed the Honest Man a solid beating, but he helped them to dish out a hammering of their own on his debut.
Kelly played 90 minutes in the heart of midfield in a 7-0 win at Berwick Rangers. With Falkirk and Livingston drawing elsewhere in Group G, Ayr’s flying start leaves them top of the pile. It’s certainly an encouraging beginning for the 19-year-old.
