Two more Rangers players head out on January loan moves

Two more Rangers players have headed out on loan as Jack Thomson and Josh McPake join Kai Kennedy in leaving the Gers for pastures new this January.

Winger Kennedy, 18, put an end to much speculation regarding his future when he signed a new two-year deal at the club before being sent on loan to Raith Rovers.

Gers midfielder Jack Thomson, also 18, would be the next name to head out of Ibrox it was announced he’d be heading to Clyde for a short-term spell.

The Ibrox kid will join fellow Rangers Academy stars Matthew Shiels and Cammy Palmer at Broadwood.

Clyde boss Danny Lennon described the club as “delighted to be able to bring in a player of Jack’s calibre” and thanked Rangers for the opportunity to work with the player [Clyde].

The next player to leave Ibrox was one-time Rangers Academy Player of the Year Josh McPake, who is set to move south of the border.

The Gers attacker, 19, has had an up and down few seasons since breaking into the Gers side and is heading to English League Two club Harrogate Town.

McPake – who has also had loan spells at Dundee and Greenock Morton – will be hoping to show why he is amongst the highest rated players in the Gers Academy in his first stint down south.

Rangers kid McPake has also made six appearances for the Scotland Under 19s side and will be hoping to impress via this January loan move.

Speaking of Rangers Academy players, news broke this week that the Gers are once again driving a proposal to introduce Colt teams to the lower leagues of Scottish football.
