Football can be a cruel game at times.
Wes Foderingham has waited on the sidelines all season long, looking for a run of games.

the weekend, the former no.1 had only four appearances to his name under Steven Gerrard.
Yet, finally, his chance arrived in the shape of a suspension for Allan McGregor.

The veteran was cited after the recent win at Pittodrie, picking up a two-match ban for violent conduct after a challenge on Lewis Ferguson.
Therefore, Foderingham found himself in the starting lineup against St Johnstone and then again for the visit of Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening.

He kept a clean sheet in both of those matches.

Kilmarnock had ten men for the majority of the second encounter and therefore, didn’t cause him many problems.
It was a different story against St Johnstone, though. Without some fine saves from the 28-year-old, Rangers would have suffered an embarrassing defeat.
Yet, it’s highly unlikely to be enough for him to retain his place in the side.
With McGregor’s ban now served, he’s all set to come back into the team.

Steven Gerrard referenced the veteran’s availability, as captured by RangersTV, during Thursday morning’s press conference.
Surely, there would have been no cause for that unless he intended to start him.
Over the two matches, Foderingham offered a reminder to fans that he’s a very capable operator, but that may be the last we see of him for some time.
