Twist in Southampton's reported chase for Rangers star – report

On Wednesday afternoon, the Daily Mail reported that Southampton were interested in acquiring Scott Arfield.
However, a later report, from the Daily Record, should have Bears sighing with relief.
It claims that there is, in fact, no interest from the Premier League side.

Strong performances are always likely to attract attention from elsewhere.
Therefore, it’s of little surprise that speculation has started this week, following the Arfield’s display at the weekend.
His hat-trick against Motherwell earned him ‘Star Man’ in the
SPFL Team of the Week and recognition alongside some giants of European football.

Arfield has been a Ger for less than a year, though.
He signed a four-year deal back in May, so you would think it would take a very large offer from any club wishing to prise him from Ibrox.
It’s certainly not an event many Bears want to see, but if the Record report is to be believed, they need not worry.

Providing he’s still around, Arfield will be a key figure in the hunt for silverware next season.

With ten goals and six assists in the league so far in his first season, he has settled in quickly.
However, especially after his recent positional change, he’ll be looking to contribute even more regularly, next campaign.
