Former Rangers star Kevin Muscat, who was linked with taking up a role as Ange Postecoglou’s assistant at Celtic, will reportedly replace the new Hoops boss at Yokohama F Marinos [Scottish Sun].
Muscat spent the 2002/03 season at Ibrox and won the treble with the club, so it was quite a surprise when he was linked with a coaching role at Parkhead.

Australian outlet SEN reported that the 47-year-old was a prime candidate to sign up as Postecoglou’s assistant.
The two played together at South Melbourne and then teamed up as coaches at Melbourne Victory almost a decade ago.
However, the link was rubbished by the Glasgow Times and then the former Ger paid a visit to Oswald’s Bar in Glasgow City Centre, showing where his loyalties lie.
Now, in a big twist, it’s being reported that he’s actually set to replace the new Celtic manager as boss of Yokohama F Marinos.
The Scottish Sun reports that the fiery ex-defender will travel to Japan this month and will begin his role when the J1 League takes a break during the Tokyo Olympics.

Marinos are currently second in the table and 18 points behind leaders Kawasaki Frontale, although they have four games in hand.
Muscat’s last job was a brief stint at Belgian top-flight club Sint-Truiden and before that, he spent a decade at Melbourne Victory, with four years as an assistant and six as the manager.
Meanwhile, a current Rangers coach has received recognition from UEFA.
