A former Rangers manager has reached a total agreement to join Belgian club SV Zulte Waregem ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Light Blues have made some questionable appointments and signings in recent years, and the American owners will be looking to avoid the mistakes of past regimes.

Andrew Cavenagh is backing Danny Rohl going into the summer, but things are not ideal behind the scenes.

Michael Beale reaches total agreement to join SV Zulte Waregem

According to reliable Belgian football insider Scott Coyne, Michael Beale has reached a total agreement with SV Zulte Waregem.

The London-born manager will take over the reins of the Belgian club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

After thriving as Steven Gerrard’s assistant, Beale was given the job full-time, but only lasted a year before being sacked by the Light Blues in 2023.

He then managed Sunderland before becoming the assistant manager to Gerrard at Al Ettifaq again.

Now, Beale has taken up another number one role, with an official confirmation expected in due course.

Waregem managed to avoid relegation as they secured promotion last season, and the former Gers boss will now be tasked with establishing themselves as a top-flight outfit.

Barry Ferguson makes Rangers return claim

With Beale returning to management, fans will wonder what the plan is for Barry Ferguson, as he is currently out of work.

After being the interim manager of Rangers, Ferguson has not taken up any other managerial roles.

However, he has expressed his willingness to return to the club in any capacity.

Currently, he is an ambassador of the Light Blues, but does not have any say in first-team or behind-the-scenes affairs.

Ferguson knows the standards expected at Rangers and, instead of looking to establish his managerial career, wants to do everything he can to help his former side succeed.

While he has begun a career in punditry, it does seem like his main goal is to be the manager of the Ibrox outfit once again.

He told Go Radio: “I’m always there to help Rangers in whatever way. Obviously, now I’m back at the club as an ambassador. I’ve got good relationships with the board and people around the club.”
