Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell can’t help but be different from the rest of his teammates.
The ex-Norwich City star, 26, is a player of genuine talent and ability but doesn’t always seem to have the faculties to bring it together consistently enough on the pitch.
The challenge for Todd Cantwell, if he hopes to reach the top of the game, is finding a level of maturity and stability which he has not yet found in football.
As we exclusively revealed earlier in the summer, Cantwell might not be able to find that at Rangers either.
Nonetheless, as Cantwell’s agent offers his services to random Instagram accounts, the midfielder is the Netherlands as Rangers ramp up pre-season training.
And he’s just namedropped a Euro 2024 superstar when asked who the most famous contact on his phone is.

Cantwell reveals doppelgänger link
As the Rangers squad is put through its paces at a pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, the RangersTV team has been busy producing content to keep fans entertained.
Whilst we’re sure supporters would much prefer new signings every time they get a push notification for these updates, the club’s media team brings the fans closer to the first-team than ever before.
A routine question at these camps is ‘who is the most famous contract in your phone?’
And there were some interesting responses as the Rangers team caught a breath in the Netherlands, none more so than from Todd Cantwell.
When asked the question Cantwell responded ‘Antoine Griezmann’.
The Atletico Madrid attacker is one of the biggest personalities in football and it’s quite a link, especially as the two players are said to bear a striking resemblance.
We wonder if the link up has anything to do with Cantwell dressing up as the Frenchman as part of Norwich’s Christmas party back in 2019.
Perhaps the Rangers star even texted Antoine Griezmann commiserations after the forward was dumped out of Euro 2024 by Spain this week!
Rangers captain show of support
There were some other interesting choices of course.
Jack Butland selected Wayne Rooney, who has just told Rangers they’ve missed out on a ‘fantastic’ player in Morgan Whittaker.
Steven Gerrard also got a mention whilst several players – young and old – threw their support behind Rangers captain James Tavernier by selecting the right back.
The Rangers skipper has been the subject of intense scrutiny heading into next season with murmurs aplenty about interest in Tav from Saudi Arabia.
For the time being however the Rangers captain remains an Ibrox player and it’s clear plenty in the squad think very highly of him.
