As Rangers prepare to ramp up the schedule again from this weekend, there’s a potential £2.7m investment who is sure to get the chance to shine from here on in.
South African international midfielder Bongani Zungu has taken his time settling into life at Ibrox and wasn’t helped by protracted negotiations and eventually having to quarantine to enter the country.

Three months on and Zungu has in the last eight or so matches become a regular feature from the bench in the final 10 minutes of matches.
The Amiens loanee has regularly been used to save the legs of ageing midfielder Steven Davis, the Ulsterman being a standout performer for Rangers but at 36 is no spring chicken.
It’s a number which doesn’t quite compute with the all-action, busy performances Davis is putting in and as the club enters a pivotal part of the season, the Northern Irish captain will be wrapped in cotton wool.
Davis has already played 27 times Rangers this season – as well as another eight times for Northern Ireland – and there are certainly bigger matches to come at home and abroad
That should give a chance for Zungu to prove that he’s worth the reported £2.7m investment this coming summer [Daily Record] as he looks to finally stamp his authority on the Rangers midfield.
Zungu, 28, initially frustrated supporters but his brief cameo against Aberdeen was an encouraging sign of the potential we have with the South African.

Let’s hope it’s something we see more of in the coming weeks as Zungu starts influencing proceedings from the beginning of matches rather than the end of them.
Zungu has been in Scotland for three months now and has promised supporters he will “play for the badge” in the hunt for silverware.
