Three Rangers stars and recently-departed Ger, Ross McCrorie, have been named in the SPFL TOTW following their outstanding performances over the weekend.

Steven Gerrard’s side bounced back from dropping points at Hibernian to hammer Motherwell 5-1 at Fir Park.

A number of individuals impressed during the game, including Jordan Jones and Cedric Itten, both of whom bagged their first goals for the club.

However, it was Allan McGregor, James Tavernier and Scott Arfield who did enough to make the SPFL Team of the Week.

McGregor is perhaps a surprise inclusion considering that unlike Joe Lewis, Robby McCrorie, Danny Rogers and Vasilis Barkas, he didn’t keep a clean sheet.

Yet, there was nothing he could do about George Edmundson’s unfortunate own goal in the closing stages and he did pull off a stunning fingertip save from Mark O’Hara’s free-kick.

There can be no debate about Tavernier’s inclusion, though. The Gers skipper was the standout player on the pitch on Sunday, bombing forward to get involved in his side’s attacks and cooly slotting home two first-half penalties.

Arfield is certainly deserving of his place, too. The Canada international has benefitted from the absence of both Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo through injury in recent weeks and has put in a string of strong performances since his return to the starting XI.

His assist for Jordan Jones at Fir Park was sublime and he was at the heart of Rangers’ slick attacking play throughout the first half.

Ross McCrorie, who joined Aberdeen on loan in August in a deal that will become permanent next summer, also made the TOTW.

The 22-year-old was included in defence despite playing in midfield in the Dons’ 3-0 win over Ross County at Dingwall on Sunday.

McCrorie didn’t get on the scoresheet but he won a penalty for the visitors and was dominant alongside Lewis Ferguson in the middle of the park.

Former Rangers players David Templeton and Kirk Broadfoot also both made the XI after strong performances for Hamilton and Kilmarnock, respectively.
