Three Rangers players out on loan who badly need more minutes

Rangers currently have a number of youth and fringe players out on loan but not all of them are racking up minutes at their adopted clubs.

Glenn Middleton and Lewis Mayo have both established themselves as regular starters at St Johnstone and Partick Thistle respectively, but others have barely got a look in over the early months of the season.

Three loan Rangers in need of more minutes

Nikola Katic

The whole point in fan favourite Katic heading out of Ibrox on deadline day to join Hadjuk Split in his native Croatia was so he could begin to make up for the playing time he missed out on last season due to a serious knee injury.

However, since his departure, he’s only played 116 minutes of football.

His solitary start came in a SuperSport Croatian Football Cup fixture, while he’s only made two brief substitute appearances in the league.

Jake Hastie

Hastie secured a short-term loan move to Partick Thistle in mid-August and was given a big billing by Jags boss Ian McCall.

However, he’s yet to make an impact at Firhill.

The 23-year-old winger has made just three substitute appearances so far in the Championship and is yet to register a goal or an assist, while he missed out on the matchday squad for league fixtures against Kilmarnock and Raith Rovers last month.

Josh McPake

McPake signed a contract extension at Ibrox in the summer before heading out to Morecambe in EFL League One for a fourth loan spell of his career.

It was a step up after he impressed in the English fourth tier last season with Harrogate Town but despite netting against Burnley in pre-season, he’s finding opportunities hard to come by.

After starting three games in a row at the start of the campaign, he slipped down the pecking order and has only featured twice in the Shrimps’ last seven league matches.

In other news, a Rangers loanee’s club have been forced to issue a statement amid a dire run of form.
