This weekend proved the vital difference between Rangers and Celtic

Going into this weekend in Scottish football, there was real cause for optimism at Ibrox. Especially where any title race was concerned.
At home to St. Johnstone, we had a superb chance to close the gap on Celtic to three points. And put the pressure on them before their challenging game away at Killie.
After stumbling on Saturday we gave Celtic all the motivation they needed to go to Kilmarnock and get three points. Having now done so, they’re eight point lead at the top feels ominous.

But in these results is the vital difference between the two sides at the moment. Yes, questionable refereeing decisions didn’t go our way, or Kilmarnock’s, and once again seemed to favour the league leaders.
But it’d sour and bitter to place the blame squarely at the feet of these decisions. We need to take care of business and we need to grind our results in Scotland when the pressure is on. We’ve barely been able to string a win of results together for years – excluding that brief period under Graeme Murty last season.
Celtic on the other hand can be relied on to squeeze out results whilst under pressure. And when you’re throwing everything at it, you get your rewards. As the skelly Scott Brown did with his wild deflected goal yesterday.

Yes, Brown shouldn’t have been on the pitch. But that’s Celtic’s business. We’ve only really got the right to worry about it when we take care of ours.
And this weekend proved we find it difficult to when the pressure is on. Not for the first time either.
Aberdeen in the Cup, Kilmarock at Rugby Park, Dundee, Livingston, St. Johnstone. It has got to change.
