Leading Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath is the latest figure to claim Rangers are interested in signing Vitesse Arnhem defender Danilho Doekhi.
The 22-year-old product of Ajax’s youth academy has been a key figure in Vitesse’s impressive defensive form this season, the club boasting the best defence in the Dutch Eredivisie.

With one year left on Doekhi’s contract, via his Transfer Notebook McGrath has reiterated earlier reports that the club could snare Doekhi on the “cheap” and also credited Newcastle United and Norwich City with an interest.
Rangers were initially linked to Doekhi by Football Insider who claimed the club were considering a £1.5m move for the player.
Later reports by the same publication claimed that Newcastle United and Fulham were two other sides interested in signing the defender.
A report in Holland would then give additional credence to the Rangers links, De Gelderlander claiming the Gers were leading the pack with a three-year deal eyed at Ibrox.
According to many of the reports the move could well come down to the future of Swedish international Filip Helander who’s been linked to Premier League sides Aston Villa and Leicester City [Sportbladet].
Doekhi has made 33 appearances in total for Vitesse this season with the Dutch side chasing a European spot for next season and currently sitting 5th in the Eredivisie.

It’s certainly a very exciting potential move with the path of young Dutch defender with defensive prowess coming to Scotland already tread across the city.
A Dutch defender who came to Scotland via the Eredivisie is now the most expensive defender in the world after a reported £75m transfer move.
