The Summer was a pretty damn hectic one at Ibrox. Fifteen names came in, 25 went out, and there were a few missed opportunities at Auchenhowie too. Kean Bryan, the former Man City youth who looked a definite to sign but pulled out at the last minute, is a prime example.
But more than be a missed opportunity, the centre back is looking more and more like a bullet dodged.
Oldham’s Young Player of the Season last year, Bryan looked an interesting proposition at the back. Young, athletic and comfortable on the ball, he had all the attributes we were looking for.

But the centre back eventually decided on Sheffield United, where he is yet to make an appearance this season. He’s lacked fitness and picked up an illness which has kept him out of the team.
Rangers, who have already battled with a rigorous schedule, will be grateful they missed out on the centre back.
Joe Worrall a solid replacement but not long-term
Rangers plunked for Joe Worrall instead, with the Nottingham Forest loanee growing into every game. He also looks the England youth prospect we very much hoped he’d be.
Without having seen too much of Kean Bryan, Worrall seems the better option. Worrall has youth international pedigree and talk of Premier League interest. Bryan has only really played at League One level.

But Worrall is not a long-term signing. He’s only on loan till next year and won’t serve as an asset for Rangers. He’s also in competition for a full-time player’s position.
But given Kean Bryan’s notable absence from the Sheffield United side, the decision to move for Worrall is being proven to be the right one.
Kean Bryan’s Summer reluctance appears to have done Rangers a favour.
