Rangers legend Stuart McCall has claimed that he’d take a European defeat off a side from Gibraltar if it secured the hallowed 55 for Rangers.
The 9IAR hero and former Rangers boss was talking up Rangers title chances but acknowledged it is going to be a very tough year.
And he’d be willing to sacrifice a pop at Europe if it meant the league flag was being hoisted at Ibrox at the beginning of next season.
“It’s a season everyone’s looking forward to and we’re certainly far more optimistic this season,” McCall told Rangers News.
“I think there’s no doubt we’ve closed the gap although people still say it was nine points.
“We proved we can beat our main rivals with those two home games at Ibrox, so it gives the players the belief that they can go toe-to-toe. It could come down to Old Firms next season.
“There’s a lot of belief and not a lot of false belief. The season before last I went to Ibrox with a bit of fear, last season the Celtic games couldn’t come quick enough.
“I wouldn’t mind us going out [of Europe] to a team from Gibraltar or whatever if we won the league.
“That’s the most important thing this season, winning that league, and I’m sure Steven’s going to do everything to get us that back.”

The former Rangers boss and midfielder has also been speaking about Lee Bowyer’s comments on midfielder Joe Aribo, as well as the players he believes will be central to 55, as he prepares for a big weekend of events in Glasgow.
