Former Rangers manager and 9 in a row legend Stuart McCall has said Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has got it “totally wrong” with his comments after Joe Aribo signed for Rangers.
Bowyer was left frustrated as Rangers won the race to sign 22-year-old Charlton midfielder Aribo on a pre-contract. The Addicks boss claimed Rangers isn’t the best move for the player’s career [South London Press].
He would then go on to call the transfer the “wrong move” on talkSPORT, suggesting Aribo should’ve went to Championship Brentford instead.

But Stuart McCall believes the Charlton boss is miles off with his comments.
“I’ve come up against Lee as a player and a manager and he speaks openly in what he believes in,” McCall told Rangers News.
“But I think he’s got this one totally wrong. He’ll have been desperate to keep him but until you’ve been at Rangers and you know what Rangers is all about, it’s hard to comment.

“It’s only when you’re in the building and you see the club, the institution, and you know what the support’s like that you really know.
“I don’t want Rangers to be a stepping-stone. I had chances to go abroad and go to other teams in England.
“But on the comments about not leaving Scotland for the Premier League, I think if you look over the piece, both Rangers and Celtic players have done so in the past.
“I think he has every right to his opinion, but I think it’s totally inaccurate. The lad Aribo will realise the size of the club, he will have already.
“Lee’s a million miles away in my opinion.”
