Striker scores two more goals as Rangers transfer looks complicated

Rangers target Josh Maja has bagged another two goals for Bordeaux as a move to Ibrox appears increasingly complicated.

The Gers are absolutely in the market for a new striker or two this summer.

Alfredo Morelos is surely on his way out whilst Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe have been through injury problems.

Michael Beale needs a goalscorer he can trust and Maja appears to be a prime target.

Football lnsider suggested March that Maja is a top target for Rangers this summer.

The same outlet then added later in March that Bordeaux have a clause to extend Maja’s deal – if they win promotion.

That makes things pretty complicated for Rangers, who may have been hoping that Maja would become a free agent this summer.

Instead, Maja could end up staying at Bordeaux – and he’s trying to fire them to promotion.

Josh Maja scores two as Rangers hopes in doubt

Bordeaux were in action against Grenoble on Monday evening.

Maja scored a brace, tapping in his first of the night at the back post as Grenoble failed to deal with a corner.

Maja’s second was a superb strike, powering home a shot off the crossbar to seal a 3-0 victory.

That takes Maja onto 13 goals and five assists in 31 games for Bordeaux this season.

This result keeps Bordeaux in second place, just one point ahead of Metz and three clear of Sochaux.

Chasing down Ligue 2 leaders Le Havre looks to be beyond Bordeaux now, but they occupy the second automatic promotion spot right now.

Maja’s goals are taking Bordeaux closer to a top-flight return and potentially taking him away from Rangers’ transfer plans.

Rangers could of course try to buy Maja if Bordeaux go up, but that complicates Beale’s pursuit and this situation may force the Gers to look elsewhere.
