Rangers didn’t sign Ike Ugbo over the summer transfer window and Cardiff City will now be very, very happy.
The Gers have ended up signing four new forwards this summer to help Michael Beale’s revolution.
Sma Lammers, Abdallah Sima, Cyriel Dessers and Danilo have all arrived at Ibrox this summer.
Some big money has been spent and yet it couldn’t help Rangers on the opening day, losing 1-0 at Kilmarnock.
There isn’t much margin for error here; Rangers need goals from these new forwards and they’re needed quickly.
Rangers simply can’t afford many more blanks in front of goal; that sounds harsh after just one game but that’s the reality in a title chase.
Rangers’ new strikers will be hoping to get off the mark soon but one summer target has already found the net…
Ike Ugbo makes perfect start to the season after Rangers interest
One of the strikers Rangers considered signing was Ike Ugbo.
The Scottish Sun reported in May that Rangers were looking to bring Troyes striker Ugbo to Ibrox.
Michael Beale knew Ugbo from the Chelsea youth ranks, a connection we saw pay off with the deal for Dujon Sterling.
In the end, Rangers went in another direction and Ugbo decided to leave Troyes for a season-long loan move to Cardiff City.

Ugbo started on Sunday afternoon as Cardiff travelled to take on Leeds United – and the Canadian hitman immediately made a huge impact.
Josh Bowler opened the scoring as Ugbo unselfishly set the ball back for the Nottingham Forest loanee to fire home.
Ugbo then turned scorer, finding the net from close range as Aaron Ramsey – the former Rangers man – saw his shot deflected.
Ugbo had Cardiff 2-0 up but Leeds roared back to claim a 2-2 draw, meaning Ugbo didn’t start with a win.
Still, he turned in a fine display for the Bluebirds and maybe Michael Beale may just be keeping one eye on Ugbo in case Rangers need another striker down the line.
