Steven McLean has been appointed as the referee for Rangers’ next Scottish Premiership fixture against Dundee United at Ibrox.

The team will head into the fixture still six points behind Celtic knowing that they must win to keep their slim title hopes alive.

The fixture comes just three days after a mammoth Europa League semi-final against RB Leipzig and the players will likely be physically and emotionally drained after what is expected to be an emotional night in Govan.

This will be the fourth Rangers fixture that McLean has taken charge of this season, with his last game being the victory over St Mirren on Boxing Day, where Scott Wright and Alfredo Morelos netted to hand the Light Blues a comfortable 2-0 win.

He refereed the earlier meeting between the sides in Paisley where Rangers won 2-1 in a game in which Alfredo Morelos scored his record 100th goal for the club.

McLean also took charge of the Scottish Cup tie at Dens Park earlier this season.

The whistler will be joined by David Doig and Ralph Gordon as linesman, with Alan Muir appointed as the fourth official.
