Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has expressed his frustration with the fact that a major decision over the Reserve League is reportedly out of his hands.
The Gers gaffer was speaking as his side prepare for the challenge of Hibs at Ibrox. He was fielding questions over a Scottish Sun story which claims Rangers were considering leaving the Scottish Reserves League for a stronger challenge.
And if it’s true Steven Gerrard appeared annoyed that any decision on this was “in someone else’s hands”. Questions on the Reserve League begin about 15.15 into the video.

“I seen the piece yesterday and apparently a ‘senior figure’ at this football club is about to address that situation”, said Gerrard.
“So, I’m looking forward to seeing who that senior figure is. And I look forward to that interview and him addressing that situation, but it seems that is in someone else’s hands.”
It was a sharp and direct response from Gerrard, and he comes across as frustrated about the entire thing. Whether it is a nod to the report being exaggerated or frustration that any decision on this is out of his hands is hard to tell.
But the idea that Steven Gerrard wouldn’t be consulted on any Reserve League decision is an odd one. Whatever the case, he’s clearly not happy.

The move away from the Reserve League could birth colt teams in the lower leagues of Scotland or mean Rangers play their reserve fixtures across Europe.
