Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has sent a rallying call to supporters ahead of the club’s Europa League clash with Porto.

With Group G evenly poised, Rangers know that victory against Porto this week can give them a huge chance of qualification to the knockout stages.

The impact that could have at the club, both financially and in terms of our stature, would be massive.

Steven Gerrard knows that in order to qualify from European group stages you need to make the most of your home games.

The Liverpool legend was on the pitch during numerous special nights at Anfield and he reiterated just how important the power of Ibrox will be as he made an emotional appeal to fans.

“We know the challenge and the threat Porto carry,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“There’s an incredible amount of respect for the team who are coming.

“Having said that, they are coming to our place, which will be rocking. I’m sure the fans are really excited and ready to get behind the players.

“You are talking about a group of supporters that are up there with the best in the world.

“They thrive on and love European nights, especially when a big game is in town.

“You saw that in the Feyenoord game and over the 18 months I have been here, the fans have been incredible.

But what I’d say is we need that plus more. I want to try and rev them up.”
