Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has sent a message to his side ahead of the crunch Europa League tie with FC Midtjylland – Rangers have got to play at their best to progress through the tie.
The comments come after Rangers somewhat stumbled through two very tough, frustrating matches last week.
A draw in Luxembourg was paired with a resilient win in Kilmarnock in the dying embers of the game, but if we’re to win in Denmark, the Gers boss knows we must be better.
“We come here as a club, as a big club, with pressure on us to try and progress through the competition,” said Gerrard, speaking to the press before the match.
“We have respect for all the Midtjylland players. They’ve started the season very well. I’m sure they’re in a good place and they’re confident and this is a game they’re really looking forward to.
“I’m sure they’d take great pleasure in over the tie knocking Rangers out of the competition.
“We’ll have to play well and close to our best and if not at our best to progress.”
The Rangers boss will be geeing up his players who’ve done very well to come through a challenging week with this tie in front of them and three points domestically.

But from here on in there will be a substantial step-up in the quality of the opposition, and Steven Gerrard knows his team must step-up too if they stand any chance of progression.
Should Rangers get past FC Midtjylland over two legs, they will face either Legia Warsaw of Poland or Atromitos of Greece.
