Steven Gerrard has said he is “quietly satisfied” with the progress his Rangers team have made this season.
The Liverpool legend was speaking to The Guardian in London in preparation for the launch of his new film Make Us Dream. He spoke candidly about his time as a player and positively about his time at Rangers.
His views on the job done so far and the work will catch fan’s eyes.
“I’m quietly satisfied,” Gerrard says. “We’re in a nice position but there’s lots of hard work ahead. The challenge hasn’t got any bigger or smaller than when I walked in.”
The Gaffer also gave his verdict on the performance of his players, speaking about the need to manage people “individually and not just as a team”.
“That’s what I’m really enjoying because it’s about managing the individuals,” said Gerrard. “If you get that right the team will be fine. The players have given me absolutely everything. Even the games we’ve lost hasn’t been through downing tools or not emptying everything for the club.”

One of the most endearing aspects of Gerrard’s tenure so far has been his honesty. Whether reflecting on a match or communicating about a player, Gerrard hasn’t really held back. He’s echoed the feelings of the fans a lot of the time.
He’s analysed and accepted his own mistakes.
And that’s why I think most will agree with him. We are, and should be, quietly satisfied. There hasn’t been a feeling like this around the club since we went down. Even the most battle hardened of supporter has to agree with that.
Like we’ve come to expect, Gerrard also spoke honestly about his appointment.
“I wasn’t expecting the Rangers offer,” he explains. “Do I think it came a bit early? Probably. But when it’s a club as big as Rangers you only get one opportunity to manage them. So I had to reflect. Where am I strong? Who do I need to help me in areas where I lack experience? The staff Rangers put around me have been absolutely brilliant.”
He’s got the right to be quietly satisfied with the job he’s done so far.
