As Steven Gerrard prepares for his Rangers charges to take the trip to Aberdeen, you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s got one eye on Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final v Celtic.
It will be the Scouser’s first final as Rangers boss and a chance for the club to get that first trophy since the misery of 2012.
But when asked if he’ll consider planning his squad for Wednesday with Sunday in mind, Steven Gerrard was straight to the point.
“No [I will not pick the side with Sunday in mind],” said Gerrard [RangersTV].
“I think we’re just fully focused on Aberdeen and the challenge that they pose. It’ll be a tough game up at Pittodrie.
“It’s 100% focus on this game and we’ll worry about Sunday come Thursday.
“That’s what supporters are allowed to do, y’know, debate, opinions, who I should play, but I can assure all the fans that the focus is very much on this game.”
The Rangers boss was also very coy on whether or not Alfredo Morelos would be involved given his ropey history of reds against the Dons.
What Gerrard was very clear about is that Rangers will be playing full strength with the intention of getting maximum points in Aberdeen.
One player who is unlikely to be involved is Jordan Jones, who has encountered an injury setback in training.
