On Tuesday morning, in a press conference followed by the Rangers Twitter account, Steven Gerrard provided an update on Alfredo Morelos.
The striker has been widely criticised for picking up a red card during Sunday’s Old Firm.

It was his fifth sending off of the season, while other suspensions have come from an accumulation of yellow cards.
Yet, the Colombian has offered so much when he’s stayed on the pitch. Therefore, selling him would constitute a risk with silverware firmly on the agenda next season.
“Alfredo trained yesterday, there is no issue”, said Gerrard, as quoted by the
“I’ll continue to support and help Alfredo, he still has a lot to offer this football club but at the weekend I had to be firm and stamp down on it.
“I had similar actions when I was younger, you have to have a long look in the mirror and think about his teammates and supporters have to go through once he leaves the pitch. You have to think of other people.”

Analysis
Gerrard’s comments suggest that after El Bufalo’s four-match ban is served, he will come straight back into the team.
He also suggests that 22-year-old will remain at Ibrox for the foreseeable future. Of course, having recently signed a contract extension until 2023, technically, that shouldn’t be a surprise.
However, contracts don’t quite mean what they used to and there’s little doubt that bids will come in the summer.
Overall, though, it seems Gerrard has forgiven Alfredo and sees him as an integral part of his plans going forward.
